Experimental filtering apparatus for river water and filtering method using it

PURPOSE: Provided is a stream water pilot filter for use in designing a stream water filter to calculate flow rate, retention time of stream water and proper arrangement of filters, thereby deciding a size of filter basin and arrangement of filter media with different particle sizes using the same, and further provided is a method for experimentally filtering stream water using the same. CONSTITUTION: The pilot filter(10) comprises a first compartment wall(20) for dividing an upstream filter basin(10) and a downstream filter basin(10'), a perforated lower plate(30) with penetrated holes(32), which is installed at a lower portion of the filter basins(10,10') with a distance from the bottom of the filter basins(10,10'), filter media filled in the filter basins(10,10'), a trench-type stream water inflow unit(50) for introducing stream water to the upstream side filter basin(10), a second compartment wall with penetrating holes(52) so as for water to flow therethrough from the stream water inflow unit(50) to the upstream filter basin(10), the second compartment wall being installed between the stream water inflow unit(50) and the upstream filter basin(10), and a filtrate passage(60) formed under the perforated lower plate(30) of the filter basins(10,10') so as for the filtrate of the upstream side filter basin(10) to flow up to the downstream filter basin(10'). The method comprises the steps of (a) pumping stream water from a river to a tank and regulating turbulent flow of the stream water to laminar flow, introducing the laminar flow of stream water to the upstream filter basin at a predetermined flow rate from the top to filter the stream water in downflow, wherein the filter in the basin has a section area (A) and porosity (n), introducing the filtrate of the upstream filter basin to the downstream filter basin from the bottom thereof to filter the water in upflow, and determining flow rate of water as an equation of V=Q/An.
