PURPOSE: A method for controlling EGR in a variable geometry turbo charger engine is provided to set a governor variable by independently separating EGR change by an influence of a VGT(Variable Geometry Turbo charger). CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit sets an air requirement quantity(S100,S110). The engine control unit calculates an air content according to an influence of a variable geometry turbo charger, and operates the air content with an air content actually sucked in for calculating a difference(S120,S130,S140). The engine control unit calculates a time delay constant and a compensation time constant according to the actual air content, and decides a PI gain constant for controlling EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) considering the influence of the variable geometry turbo charger to output the corresponding EGR valve control signal(S150,S160).
