PURPOSE: A method for exchanging consumable components, a printer, a printing device, and a toner cartridge are provided to give a perfect required print output to a user after that it is determined that the consumable components are exhausted. CONSTITUTION: If printing is resumed, the printing is stopped in response to a life span termination condition of consumable conditions used for the printing(510). Diagnosis reflecting the life span termination condition is printed(512). The printing is resumed in response to an input for the printing resumption requirement(514). A printer includes a consumable component used for the printing, a determination unit for determining a consumable state of a consumable component, a printing sopping unit for stopping the printing in response to the determination, an output unit for outputting a diagnosis reflecting the life span termination, and a resumption unit for receiving a resumption requirement for printing in response to the diagnosis.
