FACE DETECTION BASED ON TEMPLATE MATCHING

摘要

PURPOSE: A template matching based face detecting method is provided to detect a face from an image using templates having multiple resolutions and multiple scale sizes. CONSTITUTION: An image obtained using a camera is input to a face detecting and tracking system. A pre-processing such as correction of light is carried out for the input images, and a face candidate region is obtained using a color. The face candidate region is wavelet-transformed. A wavelet template is obtained using the wavelet-transformed face image. The wavelet template is matched with a previously attained wavelet face template to detect a face. Then, components constructing the face are detected, and the detected components are mapped with a predetermined face oval to decide a final face region. A face position of the next image is predicted and tracked using previous three face position information items.
