PURPOSE: Provided is a battery pack useable as power supply for the digital camera, personal computer, video camera, mobile phone, etc. having a protection circuit to prevent current discharging when generated short-circuit between positive (+) terminal of the battery pack and external negative (-) terminal. CONSTITUTION: The battery pack comprises a battery cell(1); a protection circuit(30); a blocking retention unit(31) to keep discharge-blocking condition after prevention of abnormal current discharging due to short-circuit or low-resistance connection between (+) terminal(5) of the battery pack and external (-) terminal(17); and a unit for releasing the blocking condition by the blocking retention unit by applying determined power voltage between both of the (+) and (-) terminals. In addition, a detector(32) is mounted between both the terminals(5,17).
