LIQUID CONTAINING DIATOM, DIATOM AND METHOD OF CULTURING DIATOM TO CULTURE CHAETOCEROS SP. AT A HIGH CELL CONCENTRATION AND TO IMPROVE AVAILABILITY OF DIATOM AS FEED

PURPOSE: Liquid containing diatom, diatom and a method of culturing diatom are provided, thereby culturing Chaetoceros sp. at a high cell concentration with stability, and improving availability of diatom as feed for marine organisms. CONSTITUTION: The liquid for culturing diatom comprises nitrogen, silicon and phosphorus, wherein a value of silicon/nitrogen which represents the ratio of concentration by mass of silicon to nitrogen is set to be a value of 0.06 or more; a value of phosphorus/nitrogen which represents the ratio of concentration by mass of phosphorus to nitrogen is set to be a value of 0.18 or more; the pH of the culture liquid is set in the range of 6.4 to 8.4; the cell concentration of diatom cultured is greater than 4.0x1013 cells/m3; and the diatom is Chaetoceros sp. or Phaeodactylum sp.
