DISTRIBUTED FORWARDING STRUCTURED ROUTER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING FORWARDING TABLE INFORMATION USING PARALLEL PROCESSING TECHNIQUE THEREIN

PURPOSE: A distributed forwarding structured router system and a method for transmitting and receiving forwarding table information using a parallel processing technique therein are provided to solve the transmission delay of changed routing table information in case that initial forwarding table information is transmitted to a new line card installed for a hot swap. CONSTITUTION: In case that a hot swap occurs, a parent process(306) in a routing processor monitors whether a routing table modification signal(303) and an initialization request signal(301) are received. If the routing table modification signal(303) is received, the parent process(306) creates forwarding table information for a changed entry and transmits it to all the line cards in operation(309). If a new line card is installed by the hot swap, the line card executes an initialization operation and transmits an initialization request(301) to the routing processor. The parent process, if the initialization request signal(301) is received from the line card, creates a child process(305) to execute initialization processing. The child process(305) makes a request for all the routing table information constructed up to now, creates forwarding table information, and transmits this information to the line card(308).
