REPRODUCTION-ONLY OPTICAL DISK AND REPRODUCING METHOD IN REPRODUCTION-ONLY OPTICAL DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE: A reproduction-only optical disk is provided to skip a waste area or to remove waste data reproduced from the waste area, and to output data produced before and after the waste area, thereby maintaining reproduction compatibility between a rewritable optical disk and the reproduction-only optical disk. CONSTITUTION: An optical pickup(2) reads data recorded on a reproduction-only DVD-ROM(1). An RF unit(3) converts the read data into a binary signal. A reproduction signal processor(4) processes the binary signal, and restores the processed binary signal to the original data. A controller(5) controls operations of each unit for reproduction. A buffer unit(6) temporarily stores data necessary for processing a reproduction signal. While sequentially reproducing the data read from a data write area of the DVD-ROM(1), if the controller(5) meets a waste area, the controller(5) removes data of the waste area and connects real-time data produced before and after the waste area.
