PURPOSE: A DSLAM(DSL Access Multiplexer) and a network system using a digital subscriber line access multiplexer are provided to supply an interface for using a virtual LAN service to general subscribers regardless of a physical arrangement, and to supply a broadcast function by a network system, thereby realizing traffic distribution of an ISP switch. CONSTITUTION: An ATU-C(ADSL Terminal Unit-Central) unit(40) receives an xDSL signal when processing an up-packet, demodulates the received xDSL signal to extract an ATM cell, and modulates the ATM cell into an xDSL signal when processing a down-packet. An IP interface(50) converts the ATM cell into IP packet-type information when processing the up-packet, converts the IP packet-type information into virtual LAN IP packet-type information to add a virtual LAN ID, and receives the virtual LAN IP packet-type information when processing the down-packet. The IP interface(50) converts the received virtual LAN IP packet-type information into IP packet-type information, and converts the IP packet-type information into an ATM cell again.
