PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for resizing JPEG images are provided to resize the JPEG images in a software manner by generating a predetermined table or new table. CONSTITUTION: A JPEG image resizing apparatus includes a unit(21) for judging the size of input information, a unit(22) for comparing the size of the input information with a display resolution to determine whether resizing is executed or not, and a unit(23) for generating a predetermined resizing table or new resizing table corresponding to at least one information size. The apparatus further includes a unit(24) for resizing the input information using the table and storing the resized input information, and a unit(25) for outputting the resizing result.
