PURPOSE: A method for checking a stolen check by using a mobile terminal is provided to simply check whether a check is a stolen check or a forged check. CONSTITUTION: A check is photographed by a camera of a mobile terminal to make a check image. It is determined whether the check image is good to be recognizable. The mobile terminal is connected to a server of a financial institution. The check image is transmitted to the server. The check image transmitted to the server is recognized as a check number by using a character recognition program. The recognized check number is compared with a stolen check number stored in a database of the financial institution to check whether the check is a stolen check. The result of checking the check is transmitted to the mobile terminal.
