PURPOSE: A method for generating an iris code of an iris image using multiple lighting is provided to reduce a capacity of a database and shorten an iris recognition time by generating/registering one iris code as combining each iris code generated from the images obtained by the multiple lighting. CONSTITUTION: Turning on the multiple lighting depending on each position, the iris images are obtained(S401). Each iris code is respectively obtained from the ach iris image(S402). To decide an effective bit for each iris code, each control bit is generated for the same position of the iris code(S403). It is judged that a ratio of the effective bit in each control bit is over a predetermined value(S404). If the effective bit is over the predetermined value, the effective bit is decided/generated as the effective bit of a fusing control bit(S406). It is judged that the ratio of the same bit value is over the predetermined value by comparing the iris code bit of each position matched with the effective bit of the fusing control bit with the control bit(S408). If the ratio is over the predetermined value, the fusing iris code is decided/generated as the same value as the control bit(S409).
