PURPOSE: An electrode sensor power-applying method of a washing machine is provided to secure a water quality-sensing device of the washing machine capable of improving the reliability in measuring the conductivity of washing water by preventing foreign materials from cohering to electrodes of an electrode sensor. CONSTITUTION: In an electrode sensor, a pair of electrodes is installed in a state of being exposed to washing water and an electric field is formed between the electrodes if power is applied, and the conductivity of washing water is sensed. An electrode sensor power-applying method of a washing machine comprises steps of rectifying normal power(S10,S20) into alternating current power and applying the rectified power to the electrode sensors with transformation under a predetermined unhydrolyzed voltage(S30). In the transformation step, the rectified power is transformed under 1.0 ¯1.4 volt.
