PURPOSE: A pressurized light water reactor is provided to prevent the core coolant level from being lowered and excessive loads of an extension injection duct upon occurrence of direct vessel injection(DVI) line break. CONSTITUTION: A pressurized light water reactor comprises an extension injection duct(40) arranged at the inner wall of a pressure vessel such that the extension injection duct reaches beneath a downcomer from an injection nozzle(35) of an emergency core coolant injection pipe(30). Emergency core coolant is injected to the bottom of the downcomer through the extension injection duct. The extension injection duct has a passive open/shut port(45) penetrating through a top surface(41). The pressurized light water reactor further includes a passive open/shut plate(50) coupled onto the injection nozzle of the emergency core coolant injection pipe through a hinge(60). The passive open/shut plate shuts the injection nozzle or the passive open/shut port in the extension injection duct.
