PURPOSE: An external LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) module and a mobile communication terminal capable of mounting the external LCD module are provided to additionally mount an LCD without affecting a design of a terminal and without requiring special standardization for improving the compatibility between terminals. CONSTITUTION: An external LCD module(107) includes a USB(Universal Serial Bus) module(103) receiving data serially transmitted from a terminal, a serial/parallel data converter(104) converting the received data into parallel data, and an LCD driver(105) driving an LCD(106) with the converted data. The external LCD module(107) is mounted at a mobile communication terminal. A LCD control unit(100) outputs data to be displayed on the external LCD module(107) in parallel. A parallel/serial data converter(101) converts the parallel data into serial data. A USB module(102) outputs the serial data. An external LCD module mount detector(108) detects that the external LCD module(107) is mounted at the mobile communication terminal, and reports the mounting to the LCD control unit(100).
