ESSENTIAL OIL OF CITRUS UNSHIU FRUIT HAVING ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY AGAINST FUNGUS CAUSING ATHLETE'S FOOT AND COSMETIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME TO TREAT AND PREVENT ATHLETE'S FOOT

PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing essential oil of Citrus unshiu fruit having antibacterial activity against a fungus causing athlete's foot is provided. The composition exhibits excellent antibacterial activity against Trichophyton rubrum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes as an athlete's foot-causing fungus and can be used in a various cosmetic composition for inhibition and prevention of the athlete's foot-causing fungus. CONSTITUTION: The fungus cosmetic composition contains 0.001 to 30% by weight of essential oil of Citrus unshiu fruit. The separation method of the essential oil of a Citrus unshiu fruit comprises: crushing and purifying a Citrus unshiu fruit; extracting solids with a solvent at 5 to 25deg.C for 1 to 10 days; aging Citrus unshiu fruit juice at 5 to 25deg.C for 1 to 10 days, followed by degassing, filtering, sterilizing, cooling and concentrating under pressure; and then condensing the distillate. The solvent is selected from lower alcohol (methanol, ethanol), ethyl acetate, benzene, chloroform, hexane, acetone, 1,3-butylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerine and a mixture thereof.
