PURPOSE: Provided are an insulin secretagogue comprising, as an active ingredient, the extract of Citri sinensis Pericarpium which is obtained by using a water-soluble organic solvent or water and a pharmaceutical preparation and food product containing the same. The insulin secretagogue is useful for treatment of hyperglycemia and diabetes. CONSTITUTION: The insulin secretagogue for prevention and treatment of hyperglycemia and diabetes is characterized by comprising, as an active ingredient, the extract of Citri sinensis Pericarpium which is obtained by using a water-soluble organic solvent or water. The pharmaceutical preparation contains the Citri sinensis Pericarpium extract and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and is useful for prevention and treatment of hyperglycemia, diabetes and other diseases associated with them.
