STEERING SYSTEM FOR APPLYING CABLE INSTEAD OF UNIVERSAL JOINT CONNECTING STEERING SHAFT IN VEHICLE

PURPOSE: A steering system using a cable in a vehicle is provided to improve the freedom of design by obtaining the design space for proximal parts, and to transmit rotational force of a steering wheel evenly through the inner cable by keeping balance of force with reaction force of the outer cable. CONSTITUTION: A steering system comprises a steering wheel(10) operated by a driver; a steering shaft(20) connected to the steering wheel; an extension shaft(30) connecting rotation of the steering wheel to a gear unit(50); and a cable(40) transmitting rotation of the steering wheel into the extension shaft. The cable is composed of a clockwise cable(41) transmitting clockwise motion, and a counterclockwise cable(42) transmitting counterclockwise motion. The clockwise cable and the counterclockwise cable are installed opposite to the steering shaft and the extension shaft. The cable is formed of outer cables fixed to the steering shaft and the extension shaft, and inner cables for transmitting rotational force.
