PURPOSE: An optical module having a TO-CAN structure is provided to remove an attenuating phenomenon and improve a matching characteristic at a high frequency such as 10GHz and more by using a characteristic of the TO-CAN structure. CONSTITUTION: A stem(100) includes a through-hole(110). An optical element is installed on an upper surface of the stem. A plurality of pins are electrically connected to the optical element through the through-hole and include a signal-carrying pin(200) projected to a bottom side of the stem. A couple of ground pins(310,320) are arranged on both sides of the projected part of the signal-carrying pin. The inside of the through-hole of the stem is designed to obtain a desired characteristic impedance. The bottom side of the stem is designed to obtain a desired characteristic impedance with considering the projected signal-carrying pin, the size of the ground pin, and a gap therebetween.
