DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROJECTOR FOR IMPROVING DISPLAY QUALITY OF MOVING PICTURES AND REALIZING FULL-COLOR DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A display device and a projector are provided to improve the quality of moving pictures, to reduce the restriction on a light source, to improve the usability of light, and to realize full-color display. CONSTITUTION: Illumination light radiated from a light source lamp(110) is irradiated to a portion of pixels of a liquid crystal optical valve(150) which is capable of displaying color images. The illumination light is projected by a rotating prism(130). Fly eye lenses(121,122) and a collapsible lens(123) form an image by concentrating the illumination light radiated from the light source lamp. The image formed by the fly eye lenses and collapsible lens is repeatedly formed on the liquid crystal optical valve. The image of the liquid crystal optical valve is projected on a screen by a projection lens(160) after being magnified.
