PURPOSE: An authentication processing apparatus by using a mobile phone and a method therefor are provided to easily authenticate a user and prevent illicit user authentication by transmitting an authentication message to a user's mobile phone and authenticating the user only when the user inputs the authentication message properly. CONSTITUTION: A mobile phone number storing unit(11) stores a mobile phone number. A key input unit(12) inputs various key signals. An authentication message generator(13) generates an authentication message when an authentication request is inputted through the key input unit(12). A message transmitter(14) transmits the generated authentication message to the mobile phone number stored in the mobile phone number storing unit(11). A comparing unit(15) receives an authentication message from a user through the key input unit(12) and compares it with the authentication message generated from the authentication message generator(13). An output unit(16) outputs a signal informing whether to authenticate the user according to the comparison result. A mobile phone number processor(17) adds, deletes and updates the mobile phone number stored in the mobile phone number storing unit(11).
