REMOVAL METHOD OF AMMONIUM ION FROM WASTEWATER BY USING ADSORBENT COMPRISING ILLITE

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for treating wastewater by using illite as an adsorbent which has good ammonium ion removing efficiency and is prepared by a simple process. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of (a) soaking natural illite with a particle size of 50 to 200 mesh in an aqueous solution of alkali metal chloride and stirring at 50 to 400 rpm for 10 to 50 hrs to exchange metal ion of the illite with the alkali metal ion; (b) washing the illite with distilled water to remove chloride ion therefrom; and (c) drying the illite to remove impurities therefrom.
