The brewery wastewater treatment method comprises biologically treating brewery wastewater in a biological treatment stage, filtering suspended particles from the brewery wastewater, guiding the wastewater over an adsorbent and/or an ion exchanger and/or mixing the wastewater with a precipitating agent, and removing process water from the brewery wastewater by reverse osmosis. The brewery wastewater is mixed with the precipitating agent with a mean residence time of = 6 minutes at a defined atmospheric pressure inside a piping system during a precipitation reaction. The brewery wastewater treatment method comprises biologically treating brewery wastewater in a biological treatment stage, filtering suspended particles from the brewery wastewater, guiding the wastewater over an adsorbent and/or an ion exchanger and/or mixing the wastewater with a precipitating agent, and removing process water from the brewery wastewater by reverse osmosis. The brewery wastewater is: mixed with the precipitating agent with a mean residence time of = 6 minutes at a defined atmospheric pressure inside a piping system during a precipitation reaction; and fed to a wastewater treatment apparatus (10) for membrane filtration after the precipitation reaction. A membrane bioreactor (14) is used for biologically treating the brewery wastewater and filtering the suspended particles from the brewery wastewater. A retentate accumulating in the reverse osmosis is partially recycled, and the brewery wastewater is fed back to the apparatus. The apparatus is used with the biological treatment stage for membrane filtration to remove suspended particles from the biologically treated wastewater and with a reverse osmosis unit for separating process water from the wastewater through reverse osmosis, where the reverse osmosis unit is upstream of an adsorber unit and/or an ion exchange unit and/or a precipitation device (18). The precipitation device comprises a feeding device (20) for bringing together of the precipitating agent with the brewery wastewater stream in a predetermined mixing ratio, and the piping system. The biological treatment stage and the apparatus for membrane filtration are formed through the membrane bioreactor.
