PURPOSE: A method for producing a functional feed additive using mycelium of Cordyceps militaris obtained by culturing Cordyceps militaris liquid spawn in bean dregs and rice bran as a substrate is provided. The feed containing the functional feed additive improves the immunity of animals and promotes the growth when fed to animals. CONSTITUTION: Bean dregs is mixed with 10 to 30% by weight of rice bran, added with water to a moisture content of 60 to 70% and then sterilized at 121deg.C for 100min in an autoclave. Cordyceps militaris liquid spawn is inoculated into the mixture of bean dregs and rice bran as a substrate and cultured at 20 to 25deg.C and a humidity of 60 to 70% for 15 to 20 days to give mycelium of Cordyceps militaris. The mycelium is cultured in a culture chamber with 500 to 800 lux light for 4 to 7 days, dried in a drier at 50 to 60deg.C to a moisture content of 10 to 13%. Thus obtained feed additive is added to a feed within the range of 0.1 to 1%, based on the total weight of the feed.
