APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING SLEEP APNEA BY MEASURING PHOTO-PLETHYSMOGRAPHY AND USING RATIO OF MEASURED VALUES

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to measure a photo-plethysmography by using lights of two different band passes, and diagnose sleep apnea by using the ratio of the measured values. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a light source(10) for generating lights of two different band passes in accordance with a control signal; an optical sensing unit(13) for sensing the lights generated from the light source and radiated to a part of a human body, and converting the sensed lights into electrical signals; a diagnosis unit for substantially removing the time difference of the electrical signals output from the optical sensing unit, calculating ratio of the electrical signals, and diagnosing sleep apnea by comparing the calculated ratio and a reference value; and a control unit(12) for outputting the control signal to the light source so as to generate lights of two different band passes, and providing the reference value to the diagnosis unit.
