PURPOSE: A method is provided to complete a lookup table for the output of a magnetic induction sensor for compensating the lookup table by using two different standard samples to convert the sensor output value for an unknown sample into the thickness of a real coating layer. CONSTITUTION: A lookup table for change in the output voltage of a magnetic induction sensor according to the thickness of a coating layer is completed. The lookup table is compensated by using two standard samples with known thickness. A final thickness of the coating layer is calculated by using the compensated lookup table. When a non-magnetic material is coated on a magnetic material, a central processing unit of low cost and a memory of small capacity are used to measure the thickness of the coating layer. Thus, producing cost is lowered while obtaining a precise value.
