PURPOSE: A microorganism Serratia plymuthica which is antagonistic to white rot fungi Sclerotium cepivorum is provided, thereby effectively preventing plant diseases caused by white rot fungi Sclerotium cepivorum. CONSTITUTION: A microorganism Serratia plymuthica (KCTC 10187BP) which is antagonistic to white rot fungi Sclerotium cepivorum is provided, wherein Serratia plymuthica (KCTC 10187BP) is isolated by collecting Welsh onion root samples; pulverizing the Welsh onion root samples and followed by centrifugation to collect the supernatant; culturing the supernatant on a nutrient agar(NA) medium and a tryptic soy agar(TSA) medium for bacteria, a yeast extract-malt extract agar(YMA) medium containing 0.4% sodium propionate and 25mg/l of nalicidic acid for Actinomyces and a PDA medium for fungi to select colonies grown; selecting microorganisms capable of decomposing chitin using a PDA medium containing colloidal chitin; and selecting a microorganism showing the excellent S. cepivorum antagonistic activity.
