PURPOSE: A circuit for driving a backlight inverter of a liquid crystal display(LCD) is provided to simply implement the external circuit by incorporating the switching transistor into the liquid crystal panel driving integrated circuit, thereby increasing the efficiency of data process. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for driving a backlight inverter of a liquid crystal display(LCD) includes an input power, a minimum frequency unit, a maximum frequency unit, a ramp driving integrated circuit(IC)(100) and a main power circuit unit. The ramp driving IC is provided with a dead time controller(101), a switch driving unit, a pair of switching transistors(105,107), a comparator(109) and a voltage controlled oscillator(111). The minimum frequency unit and the maximum frequency unit determine the minimum and the maximum frequencies to drive the lamp. The voltage controlled oscillator of the ramp driving IC changes the oscillation frequency corresponding to the minimum frequency unit of the second pin and the maximum frequency unit of the third pin by receiving the output signal of the comparator to output the changed oscillation frequency to the switching drive unit. And, the main power circuit unit is composed of a plurality of the passive device response to the output signal of the ramp driving IC so as to drive the lamp.
