PURPOSE: An NMS(Network Management Service) method using a PRI(Primary Rate Interface) network in an exchange is provided to allow an OMS(Operation Maintenance System) connected to one exchange to maintain the state of the other exchange, through the PRI network physically connected between the exchanges. CONSTITUTION: OMSs(230,240) select a site for inquiry and transmit an inquiry message to exchanges(210,220) connected through TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). OMS message processors(211-1,221-2) of CPMs(Central Processing Modules)(211,221) receive and analyze the transmitted inquiry message. If the inquiry message is for a currently connected exchange, the OMS message processors(211-1,221-2) of the CPMs(211,221) deliver the inquiry message to OMS message processors(212-3,222-3) of LSMs(Local Switching Modules)(212,222) to generate a result message. The generated result message is delivered to the OMS message processors(211-1,221-2) of the CPMs(211,221). And the OMS message processors(211-1,221-2) of the CPMs(211,221) transmit a response message to the OMS(230,240) requesting the inquiry first.
