PURPOSE: An L-type automatic welding carriage which improves work speed and work efficiency by automatically performing vertical welding and fillet welding and increases convenience of work by clearing non-welding section, and which is simply moved and installed through miniaturization and weight lightening, and a welding controlling method thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: The L-type automatic welding carriage(800) comprises a torch installation member(400) to which a welding torch is fixed, and which rotates the welding torch up and down; a transfer member(300) to which the lower surface of the torch installation member is connected, and which moves the torch installation member back and forth; a rotation member(200) one side of which is connected to the center of the lower surface of the transfer member, and which integrally rotates the transfer member and torch installation member side to side; a traveling member(100) at which the rotation member is installed, and which is moved along the bottom surface as maintaining a certain distance from a welding member(900); and a control member which is connected to one side of the transfer member to control the traveling member, rotation member, transfer member and torch installation member so that the automatic welding carriage performs fillet welding and vertical ascent welding, wherein the traveling member comprises a plurality of wheels(120), a traveling motor(130), a gear(150), an 'L' character shaped support(160), a plurality of guide rollers(170) and front and rear sensors, the rotation member comprises a rotation motor(210), a rotation shaft(220) and a gear, the transfer member comprises a transfer body(310), a ball screw(320), a nut slider(330) and a back and forth moving motor(340), and the torch installation member comprises a mount part(410) comprising a mount body(411), a screw(412), an adjusting bolt(413) and a nut slider, and a torch angle adjusting part(450) comprising a connector, speed reducer(452) and torch ascending motor, a clamp and a rotational angle measuring instrument(455).
