Synthesis of Sulfonated Polyimides and Preparation of Membranes for PEMFC

PURPOSE: A sulfonated polyimide, a copolymerized sulfonated polyimide, a polyimide precursor, an electrolyte membrane composition containing the copolymerized sulfonated polyimide for a polymer fuel cell and their preparation methods are provided, to enable the electrolyte membrane to be operated in a wide temperature range of a room temperature to a high temperature and to improve the heat resistance and the chemical resistance. CONSTITUTION: The sulfonated polyimide has the repeating unit represented by the formula 1 and the copolymerized sulfonated polyimide has the repeating unit represented by the formula 2. The electrolyte membrane composition comprises the sulfonated polyimide and/or a copolymerized sulfonated polyimide; and optionally an inorganic additive.
