FIELD: electronic engineering; autoemission cathode manufacture. SUBSTANCE: proposed process includes powder production by milling carbon fibers followed by their deposition on cathode substrate using electrophoresis method. Cathode substrate is made on insulating base by depositing repetitive current conducting components uniformly spaced apart. These components are deposited in electrophoretic bath filled with electrophoresis solution and powdered carbon. Cathode substrate and counter-electrode are equidistantly disposed in bath. Magnetic field is applied perpendicular to cathode surface in the course of deposition of conducting components. Cathode manufactured in this way is distinguished by improved emissive characteristics such as reduced operating voltages and enhanced uniformity of electron emission.
