The oil cooling system is for an engine in which the cylinder head and cylinder liner are air-cooled. An oil pump supplies oil through an air-oil heat exchanger (5) to the engine oil circuit. A further heat exchanger in the form of a fin-and-tube cooler (6) is fitted in the engine oil circuit in front of the air-oil heat exchanger on the air inflow side.
