Use of oxygen carriers (A) made from hemoglobin (Hb), myoglobin (Mb) or their derivatives or mixtures for controlled oxygen delivery to cultures of tissues or cells to accelerate their growth and to improve substrate production or oxygen supply to organs, is new. Where isolated organs are used, the process is in absence of heparin or lidocaine.
