In a paper making process a web (12) of paper or carton passes at high speed through a coating drum (14) station (22). The coating station drum is preceded on the web feed side by an emergency guillotine cutter. The drum coating station is esp. also followed by a further emergency guillotine cutter (40). The second emergency guillotine cutter blade is inclined towards the oncoming web (12) when the web feed is operated in reverse (L').
