Signal to noise ratio determination method for use with a digitized measurement series, whereby the statistical properties of both reported and reference values are used in ratio determination

Method in which measurement value sequences are recorded and converted into a series of digital values. The stored data values are, at least partially, subjected to a wavelet transformation, especially on the basis of a hair-wavelets to determine a multiplicity of wavelet coefficients. Comparison of the reporting values with the reference values allows noise property determination. Statistical properties of the both reporting and reference values are determined in order to determine signal to noise ratio.
