A melt adhesive (I) for the adhesion of water soluble packaging containing polyvinyl alcohol and plasticizer is characterized by containing at least one particulate additive comprising a porous material having a BET surface area (DIN66131) of greater than 50 m2/g and material having a water take up capacity of greater than 0.02 g/g. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for the production of melt adhesive (I) by heating of the plasticizer, addition of polyvinyl alcohol and processing of the particulate additive into the homogeneous melt and; (2) a process for the adhesion of water soluble packaging by application of the adhesive (I) onto parts of the packaging and closure of the packaging.
