The controller adjusts the angle of a camshaft relative to a crankshaft by means of a wobble plate gearbox between the camshaft and the crankshaft. A mechanical arrangement for limiting the adjustment of the rotation angle is arranged between the crankshaft and the camshaft. The camshaft has a wheel (1) connected to a primary drive. The camshaft is connected to a rotary plate (2) via the wobble plate of the gearbox. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of operating an inventive controller.
