A pump (4) inside the tank (1) is immersed in the fluid (2). It passes the fluid through a filter (11) on its way to the grinding machine. Fluid laden with grindings (13) is returned to the tank through a pipe (5) with a suction device (12). Sediment (14) from the grinding process collects at the lowest part of the tank (3) and is sucked up and moved to a separate tank (22) by an air lift with compressed air (15) delivered to a pipe (6). The compressed air may also be bubbled into an air-fluid mixer (10) to form a surface layer of foam taking up fine particles.
