Force feedback accelerator pedal for control of road speed of road vehicle incorporates electric motor turning spindle moving anchorage or stop for pedal return springs

The spring system (7) is designed to vary the feedback force on the accelerator pedal (1) of a road vehicle. It has two springs (2,3) attached by wires (5,6) to a drum (4) moved by the accelerator pedal to urge the pedal toward its throttle-closed position. The spring are attached to a fixed mounting plate (8). The wires carry stops (15,16) which can abut on a spring-loaded (10,11) adjustment plate (9) and move it downward against the springs. This increases resistance to depression of the accelerator pedal during the second part of its travel. An electric motor (17) turns a spindle (12) to move a stop (24) along longitudinal guide rods (13,14) to set the rest position of the adjustment plate.
