Digital fingerprinting method in which the fingerprints are captured in a completely contact-free manner by use of at least two periodically imaged partial images from a CMOS planar sensor, so that the triangulation can be used to determine a distance to a finger and ensure it is in the focal plane. The invention also relates to a corresponding device.
