The especially chain- hoist (1) comprises a pulley (2) and a weight-carrier (3). The housing (8) consisting of two halves (8a,8b) contains a motor (7) connected to a drive gear (18) for the pulley. The two halves of the housing are detachably joined by connectors acting as tensioning pieces for the housing halves which have seals (21) between them. The housing contains a sealed engine-chamber (9) with separate wall (10) on the gear side.
