High temperature superconducting component comprises several superconductor segments produced by the melt crystallization of seed crystals. Coherent grain boundaries are removed between the superconductor segments and replaced by a further superconductor material having a lower melting point than the segment material. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the high temperature superconducting component.
