A closure unit for an injection moulding machine, comprises a fixed tensioning plate (1), a movable tensioning plate (2), an end plate (3), and a linkage mechanism (4) between the movable tensioning plate and the end plate. The linkage mechanism is actuated by one or more toothed wheel-rack drives (16,17,8,9). At least one rack is attached to the linkage mechanism.
