Navigational assistance device for use in brain surgery comprises a first imaging CT or NMR device for generation of images of the operation area and a second imaging device for generation of intraoperative images of the brain area being operated on. The second device includes means for peripheral excitation of the brain using electrical potentials so that brain current flows can be imaged.
