Method whereby a power wave (h(f)) of known magnitude is produced by a signal generator and fed to an antenna system. The resultant reflected power wave (R(f)) is measured, which comprises a pure return signal (r(f)) and a superimposed interference spectrum (S(f)). Two measurement cycles are undertaken with different power levels and the results used with an equation to determine the pure return signal.
