X-ray detector (1) comprises a luminescent layer (3), an electrically conducting bottom electrode (5) connected to the luminescent layer and made from a material having high transparency for the electromagnetic radiation produced by the luminescent layer, a photodetector layer (9) connected via an intermediate layer (7) to the electrode, and an electrically conducting top electrode (11). X-ray detector (1) comprises a luminescent layer (3) for producing electromagnetic radiation and having sufficient mechanical stability to form a layer structure, an electrically conducting bottom electrode (5) connected to the luminescent layer and made from a material having high transparency for the electromagnetic radiation produced by the luminescent layer, a photodetector layer (9) connected via an intermediate layer (7) to the electrode, and an electrically conducting top electrode (11).
