Fuel injector valve for diesel and petrol engines with piezoelectric actuator enclosed in cooling fluid

The actuator body (1) is fitted inside the injector housing (9) leaving a gap between the outer surface of the actuator and the housing. This gap is filled with a suitable cooling fluid (6) with a high dielectric constant. Appropriate cooling media include thermally conducting pastes and suspensions (to increase thermal conductivity). To allow for fluid expansion an air cushion (7) is provided at the top of the gap.
