The injector has a piezo actuator (70) that is cooled by a liquid, metallic cooling fluid (30) e.g. sodium, during the operation of the injector for axial and radial transfer of heat between the actuator and the cooling fluid. The cooling fluid has high heat conductivity, thermal capacity and a low melting point. The cooling fluid is accommodated closer to the actuator. A recess is extended over an entire length along the actuator.
