For testing (11) of a software system (5) for technical equipment, with inclusion of a technical plant (1, 25), which in the case of a customer is in operation, an operation model (3, 27) is created which the operation of the technical installation (3, 27) under conditions suitable for the customer relevant conditions in a controlled manner, wherein the test software system (5) on the technical installation (1, 25) of the customer is played and this contact (1, 25) with the operating model (3, 27) is tested. The results of testing (11) with the operating model (3, 27) are used for the improvement of the software system (5).
